George Jarvis School Hereford Ghost hunting experiences and Ghost Tours

George Jarvis School Ghost Hunt

Herefordshire Haunted Former Boarding School

The George Jarvis School is situated in Herefordshire and is becoming one of the most popular ghost hunting locations. The red brick-built building dates back to 1850, and looking up at this building gives a feeling that you are being watched! The school is spread across four floors over 40 rooms, including the dark, sinister cellars and the parlour room. On previous ghost hunts, candles have been knocked off the stands, information sheets were thrown off the walls by unseen hands, doors have been seen opening and closing, and doors being slammed shut. Heavy footsteps and whistling are just some of the strange happenings reported here. Sightings of disembodied legs and strange white mists appear and vanish into thin air. The school is said to be haunted by a small boy locked away in the bell tower; he is said to wander the upper floor of this vast building.

George Jarvis is said to pace up and down the long corridor; many have witnessed his presence. Is he the gentleman that is said to slam the doors? The Cellars are said to be haunted by a man of the cloth; many have experienced his presence, guests have been grabbed, and many have fled, refusing to return.

This location is an absolute must for anyone seeking that ultimate paranormal night. Join the team as we invite you to the haunted school after dark and see who you will encounter. Be prepared; this location is pitch black; you never know what you will encounter.

History Of George Jarvis School

Situated in the rural countryside of Herefordshire is the George Jarvis School, built in the late 1850s. The outstanding red brick gothic building is now a grade II Listed.

The school and other buildings and houses in the nearby area were under the George Jarvis Charity. The school offered boarding for children who were from unprivileged and poor families. The school opened its doors in 1862 and closed its doors in 2010. The school was left completely closed away until a group of volunteers in 2020 started to bring the school back to life.

The American Forces have said to have stayed here then. During the 1980s, the school changed its use to become a youth hostel.

George Jarvis, who left his massive fortune to the poor of Staunton-on-Wye, Bredwardine and Letton in 1793, demanded his legacy never be used to erect public buildings.
